Golf is more than building a swing. Although it has many facets like the emotional roller coaster, overbearing frustration, and sometimes a club tossed towards the pond... In it's simpliest form, golf is getting the ball into the hole in the least amount of shots possible. The scorecard doesn't care how you got a birdie, it just knows you did. This means that there are some fundamental ideas and guidelines for the game. However, there is one thing that matters tremendoulsy to the success of the player. That principle is what I call, "The Human Element", which is usually preceeded or followed by the phrase, "...it depends". The human element accounts for the majority of dramatic variations in a golf swing. It's what tweaks the guidelines and develops a player's style.
Within my coaching, the players spend time focusing on:
- small motor pattern recognition for full swing improvements
- becoming a short game wizard inside of 100 yards
- gaining the knowledge of how to score and applying that knowledge on the course
- developing the skill of winning
- confidence
- self-discipline
- accountability
- grit - Defined as the mental toughness that allows a person to sustain effort and interest over years, even in the face of failure and adversity.
- the intensity to win
